I was born and raised in Chicago and then moved to the suburbs for middle school. I am currently attending Elmhurst College for a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I decided to work in an optometry practice because I want to gain experience and prepare myself for optometry school. I have worked as an optician for almost a year now. I plan on attending optometry school to continue my journey in this field, hoping to become a doctor and specialize in pediatrics.
Outside of work I like photography and being outdoors. I am in a national sorority, Sigma Lambda Gamma, where I do fundraising and volunteer activities with my sorority sisters in our surrounding communities. For example, I help with the TRIO programs that focus on helping individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds and also host multiple fundraising and educational campaigns for breast cancer awareness. My family loves the outdoors, trying new foods and are very friendly individuals!
I was born and bred in Franklin Park, Illinois. I graduated from West Leyden High School in Northlake and attended Triton College in River Grove for a short time. At that time, I came across an opportunity to work in the optometry field. I'm glad to be part of our patients' eye care and I've also learned the importance of annual eye exams, whether or not you wear glasses or contacts. It's been a great learning experience. I have worked in optometry for two years. I enjoy spending time with my family outside of work.
I grew up in Chicago suburbs and spent a short period of time in northern Florida.I graduated with honors and was on the dean's list at Andrew High School in Tinley Park. I received by Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Trinity Christian College. Prior to optometry I was a substitute teacher at the highs school level and I also worked in residential and educational settings for special needs children. I took a seven year hiatus from work to be a stay at home mom. When my boys were old enough to be in school, I started a part time job at a friends optical store. Within a year I was in love with the field and working full time. My training was all hands on by some amazing opticians, optical lab representatives, contact lens and frame reps, and doctors. Learning in this field is never ending. I have over 10 years experience in the eye care field.
Outside of work I am a wife and mother. I also enjoy participating in Steampunk gatherings, I create art and attire from scratch for these activities. I also enjoy quilting, knitting, crocheting, painting, some wood working, animal care, reading, movies, and going to see local bands that play at small venues. I also run a fundraiser for a local animal shelter once a year.
